Divorce Law

Divorce is one of the most difficult decisions.

We're here to help.

Divorce is one of the most difficult decisions that a person will make in their lifetime. Making the choice to divorce your spouse may be a decision that you have been considering for years. We know that your decision to divorce was not lightly made. We do not treat your decision to divorce as routine and un-personal. Your divorce needs are unique to you; we treat you with the respect and compassion that you deserve. We never judge you, we understand you.

A divorce in Utah is granted when there are irreconcilable differences between the husband and Wife. Divorce is the legal process that terminates the legal relationships between a husband and wife. There are many considerations and issues that must be resolved before a divorce is granted, they include: Custody, support, visitation, alimony, division of assets and debt. A divorce can be contested or uncontested. Contested means that the husband and wife do not agree on the terms of the divorce and have asked the court to determine the terms of the divorce. When a husband and wife agree to the terms of a divorce then the divorce is called uncontested and will not require the judge to determine the terms of the divorce.

I am so thankful for the hard work and dedication that John Burt and Debra Young did on my divorce case. They know what the law is and what my God given rights are as a father. Because of them I am amble to spend more time with my kids. Throughout this emotional process, they always had my best interest, as well as my children, at heart. Thank you!

I trust no one more than John Burt. He was not only respectful of our situation, but we always felt we could trust him implicitly. I cannot reccomment him highly enough.
